The photographs were made at the Lobkowicz Palace at Castle Prague and function as a visual echo of musical variations.

Note: Josef Haydn dedicated two string quartets to his patron, Prince Joseph Frantisek Maximillian Lobkowicz in 1799, Op.77 No.1 and No.2. Both are called the Lobkowicz Quartets.

Prince Lobkowicz also commissioned Beethoven to write his Symphony #3 (Eroica) in 1803. In the previous year (1802) Beethoven wrote his Opus 35 Variations. Beethoven used so many themes from these variations for the symphony that the variations became known as the Eroica Variations.
